Speaker Spotlight: Karen E. Adams, MD

We are excited to host Karen E. Adams, MD, as a plenary lecture speaker at the ASRM 2023 Scientific Congress & Expo. She will be sharing the Menopause Keynote Lecture titled: I Don’t Want It But I Wish I Wanted It: Female Sexual Function and Dysfunction in Menopause on Wednesday, October 18, 8:00 to 8:45 AM..

This lecture will provide an overview of the major models of female sexual function and dysfunction and a review of evidence-based therapies for the treatment of common disorders of sexual function in women. After this plenary, attendees will be able to describe the four major models of female sexual behavior and the DSM-V diagnostic categories of female sexual dysfunction, utilize the ISSWSH Process of Care algorithm to manage hypoactive sexual desire disorders, and list at least two behavioral and two pharmacological treatment options for female sexual dysfunction.

Karen Adams, MD, is a Clinical Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Stanford University, where she created and leads the Stanford Program in Menopause and Healthy Aging. This program brings together specialists in many fields to provide comprehensive health care for women in perimenopause and beyond and supports research, advocacy, and education of providers to improve the care of midlife and aging women around the world. She is a North American Menopause Society-Certified Menopause Expert and serves on the Education Committee of the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health. She directs the West Coast ECHO Menopause Curriculum and has given hundreds of lectures on midlife health nationally and internationally, including a 2020 TED talk entitled “Sleep, Sex, and Menopausal Zest


ASRM is launching its first-ever “Advocacy is Everywhere” campaign at the ASRM 2023 Scientific Congress & Expo in response to attacks on reproductive medicine across the country. “Advocacy is Everywhere” features advocacy stations in the New Orleans Convention Center on Tuesday, October 17.

Stations will include:

  • Advocacy is Everywhere – Hear from expert advocates all day long.
  • Social Media Photo Opportunity/Signature Wall – Leave your mark! Sign our ASRM 2023 Signature Wall.
  • Get Local – Find your local representatives and learn about local advocacy opportunities.
  • Letter Writing & Voter Registration Booth – Get loud! Check your voter registration and contact your local representatives about reproductive medicine issues.

The goal of “Advocacy is Everywhere” is to develop and nurture a culture of advocacy among our members and to provide you with the tools you need to join us in our nationwide advocacy.

CAMP ASRM Returns!

Camp ASRM is a childcare service offered Sunday, October 15 through Wednesday, October 18 in the Hilton New Orleans Riverside, the headquarters hotel for ASRM 2023. Activities include age-appropriate themes, arts and crafts, group games, music and movement, board games, story time, dramatic play, etc. Snacks, lunch, and water will be provided. Registration is open for full and half-day sessions!

Sunday, October 15 – Tuesday, October 17:
Full day, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, $180
