She will be sharing the Menopause Keynote Lecture titled: I Don’t Want It But I Wish I Wanted It: Female Sexual Function and Dysfunction in Menopause on Wednesday, October 18, 8:00 to 8:45 AM..

This lecture will provide an overview of the major models of female sexual function and dysfunction and a review of evidence-based therapies for the treatment of common disorders of sexual function in women. After this plenary, attendees will be able to describe the four major models of female sexual behavior and the DSM-V diagnostic categories of female sexual dysfunction, utilize the ISSWSH Process of Care algorithm to manage hypoactive sexual desire disorders, and list at least two behavioral and two pharmacological treatment options for female sexual dysfunction.

Karen Adams, MD, is a Clinical Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Stanford University, where she created and leads the Stanford Program in Menopause and Healthy Aging. This program brings together specialists in many fields to provide comprehensive health care for women in perimenopause and beyond and supports research, advocacy, and education of providers to improve the care of midlife and aging women around the world. She is a North American Menopause Society-Certified Menopause Expert and serves on the Education Committee of the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health. She directs the West Coast ECHO Menopause Curriculum and has given hundreds of lectures on midlife health nationally and internationally, including a 2020 TED talk entitled “Sleep, Sex, and Menopausal Zest”
