Meet Maria I. Rodriguez, MD, MPH
Meet Maria I. Rodriguez, MD, MPH, a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Julie Neupert Stott Endowed Professor in Women’s Health. She is the Director of the Center for Women’s Health and directs the newly formed Center for Reproductive Health Equity at OHSU. She serves as Medical Director for the state of Oregon’s Reproductive Health Program. She completed medical school and residency at OHSU (2004, 2008), and a fellowship in Complex Family Planning at UCSF. As part of her fellowship, she completed a Master’s in Public Health at UC Berkeley (2010). Following her fellowship, she spent five years working for the Department of Reproductive Health and Research at the World Health Organization is in Geneva, Switzerland.
Dr. Rodriguez is a physician scientist whose research focuses on the intersection of medicine, policy and economics. She is specifically interested in generating information to help guide evidence based reproductive health policy both domestically and internationally. She has expertise in cost effectiveness, health systems and policy research, systematic reviews and GRADE methodologies. Her research has been nationally recognized with the Guttmacher Institute’s Darroch Award for Excellence in Sexual and Reproductive Health Research and the Society of Family Planning’s Beacon of Science Award in 2019. Maria’s work currently focuses on examining how differences in states Medicaid policies and programs drives disparities in reproductive and maternal health. Dr. Rodriguez is leading a national study examining the impact of the over the counter contraceptive pill.
