Meet Laurie Zephyrin, MBA, MPH, MD

Laurie Zephyrin, MBA, MPH, MDMeet Laurie Zephyrin, MBA, MPH, MD, the Senior Vice President of Advancing Health Equity at The Commonwealth Fund. Driven by a passion to transform health care, she brings her experience as a clinician, health policy maker, and intrapreneur to drive system transformation. She was the first national director of the Reproductive Health Program at the Department of Veterans Affairs, spearheading the strategic vision and leading systems changes to improve the health of women veterans nationwide and served as Acting Deputy Under Secretary for Health for Community Care. She was named a White House Fellow, Young Global Leader, Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholar and Aspen Health Innovator Fellow Laurie earned her MD from the New York University School of Medicine, MBA and MPH from Johns Hopkins University, and BS in Biomedical Sciences from the City College of New York.

This keynote will explore how innovation, policy, and philanthropy can catalyze positive changes, highlighting the critical role of community-centered approaches. Dr. Zephyrin will emphasize the urgent need for ongoing investment in research and new models of care and will delve into the necessity of top-down policy changes, the crucial need for resources, and the power of community-led innovation in transforming health equity into reality.
