Intrauterine Contraception – Duration of Use and Management of Device Complications

Dr. Goldberg’s lecture will review the FDA-approved duration of action, the data supporting extended use, and the return to fertility after discontinuation of intrauterine contraceptive devices (IUDs) currently available in the U.S. The majority of the lecture will be spent discussing clinical cases that highlight device complications and provide guidance for clinical management.

Dr. Goldberg, MD, MPH, is a certified Complex Family Planning subspecialist and the founding and inaugural director of the Division of Family Planning at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH), the Harvard-MGB Complex Family Planning Fellowship program, and the Department of Research at Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts (PPLM).

Her research focuses on clinical interventions that improve abortion, miscarriage, and contraceptive care and access.
