ASRM 2024 Scientific Congress Endowed Awards

Each year, ASRM is proud to honor awardees via the ASRM Scientific Congress Endowed Awards. These awards are specially funded, and awardees are chosen via an organization-wide nomination process and awarded at the ASRM Scientific Congress. This year, we would like to recognize the following award recipients:

Arnold P. Gold Foundation Humanism in Medicine Award for Practicing Physicians

The Arnold P. Gold Foundation Humanism in Medicine Award for Practicing Physicians honors an ASRM member who as a practicing physician has best demonstrated the ideals of compassionate and respectful care for a patient’s physical and emotional well-being. Congratulations to Serena Chen, MD, on this award, to be presented during the President’s Gala on Sunday, October 20.

ASRM Distinguished Researcher Award

This award recognizes a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine who has made outstanding contributions to clinical or basic research in reproduction published during the previous 10 years. The recipient will have demonstrated sustained long-term commitment to advancing the frontiers of research in reproductive sciences and educating future scholars in the field. Congratulations to Hugh S. Taylor, MD, on this award, to be presented during the Carlos Simón Research Symposium on Tuesday, October 22, at 12:20 PM.

ASRM Lifetime Achievement Award

This award honors a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine who has made exemplary contributions to the field of reproduction during their career. The recipient will have demonstrated innovation, leadership, and other scholarly accomplishments that have a lasting impact on advancing clinical care, the frontiers of research in reproductive sciences, and the education of the scientific community. Congratulations to John E. Buster, MD, on this award, to be presented during the President’s Gala on Sunday, October 20.

Carlos Simón Excellence in Translational Research Award
(supported by an endowment from the Carlos Simón Foundation)

The Carlos Simón Excellence in Translational Research Award honors an individual who has demonstrated originality and creativity through discovery and made a substantial contribution to the field of Reproductive Medicine resulting in changes or improved clinical practice. Congratulations to Dennis Lo, MD, on this award, to be presented during the Carlos Simón Research Symposium on Tuesday, October 22, at 12:20 PM via video acceptance.

Ira and Ester Rosenwaks New Investigator Award
(supported by an endowment from Zev Rosenwaks, MD)

This award recognizes a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine who has made outstanding contributions to clinical or basic research in reproductive sciences published within ten (10) years after receiving a doctoral degree or completing residency/postdoctoral/fellowship training. The recipient will have made original research contributions that significantly impact the field independently of his or her mentors. Other factors to be considered in making the award will include conceptual breakthrough, the significance of the research to allied fields of investigation, and development of new and innovative clinical or research methodologies. Congratulations to Jennifer Kawwass, MD, on this award, to be presented during the Carlos Simón Research Symposium on Tuesday, October 22, at 12:20 PM.

Kavoussi Family Outstanding Teacher Award
The Award is made possible through an educational endowment from K.M. Kavoussi, MD, Homa Kavoussi, Shahryar Kavoussi, MD, MPH, Mehryar Kavoussi, JD, Parviz Kavoussi, MD, and Austin Fertility & Reproductive Medicine/Westlake IVF.

The Kavoussi Family Outstanding Teacher Award honors an ASRM member who is recognized as an outstanding educator in undergraduate, graduate, postgraduate, professional or patient education in the area of basic and/or clinical reproductive biology and medicine. Congratulations to Micah J. Hill, DO, on this award, to be presented during the Opening Ceremony on Monday, October 21, at 7:45 AM.

Suheil J. Muasher, MD, Distinguished Service Award
(supported by an endowment from Suheil J. Muasher, MD)

This award is intended to recognize and honor individuals or organizations that have provided distinguished service to ASRM. Nominees may be either ASRM members or non-ASRM members. The recipient or recipients will be selected based on scientific, leadership, organizational, political, or societal service contributions to ASRM, reproductive medicine, and/or reproductive medicine patients. Previous nominees will be considered. Congratulations to James P. Toner, MD, PhD, on this award, to be presented during the Opening Ceremony on Monday, October 21, at 7:45 AM.
