Speaker Spotlight: Dr. Régine Sitruk-Ware gives the Contraception Keynote Lecture

Régine Sitruk-Ware, M.D.

Contraception Keynote Lecture: New Frontiers in Contraception Research | Tuesday, Oct. 19, 3 – 3:45 pm

We are excited to Régine Sitruk-Ware, M.D. as a lecture speaker at the ASRM 2021 Scientific Congress & Expo. She will be giving the Contraception Keynote Lecture: New Frontiers in Contraception Research on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, 3:00 pm to 3:45 pm.

The lecture will address the novel methods of contraception in the research and development pipeline; discuss a recent review about new vaginal rings, novel intrauterine systems, and male contraception methods; and address research in male contraception and the research agenda for the future. This research is mostly supported by nongovernmental research organizations, including the Population Council and FHI360, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), and government agencies such as the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Development (NICHD) of the National Institute of Health. The ultimate goals of the Contraception Research are: to bring affordable contraceptive methods that are safe, effective, reversible, and meet the needs of women and men at all stages of their reproductive life to both the developed world and the most vulnerable populations in low-income countries to aid in decreasing maternal and infant deaths. The audience for this lecture may include MDs and PhDs, social scientists, and nurse practitioners involved in reproductive biology, urology, and family planning.

Dr. Régine Sitruk-Ware is a distinguished scientist at the Population Council’s Center for Biomedical Research (CBR) and a world-renowned reproductive endocrinologist. She oversees preclinical and basic research in reproductive biology and clinical development of new contraceptive technologies. Before serving as a distinguished scientist, Dr. Sitruk-Ware was the executive director of research and development for the Council’s Reproductive Health program. She is co-founder of the International Consortium of Male Contraception.
