ASRM 2022 Speaker Spotlight: Amanda Kallen, MD

Amanda Kallen, MD
From Genomic Junk to Rising Stars: Noncoding RNAs in Ovarian Aging
Tuesday, October 25, 8:00-8:30 am

We are excited to host Amanda Kallen, MD, as a lecture speaker at the ASRM 2022 Scientific Congress & Expo. She will be sharing From Genomic Junk to Rising Stars: Noncoding RNAs in Ovarian Aging on Tuesday, October 25, 8:00-8:30 am.

Ovarian aging is a critical determinant of fertility as well as overall healthspan and lifespan. It is increasingly clear that large variabilities in ovarian reserve between individuals reflect age, genetic and environmental factors and, above all, their complex interplay. Once considered “junk” DNA, studies in recent years have greatly expanded our understanding of the biological function and clinical significance of noncoding RNAs, including their roles in reproductive biology. This lecture will highlight basic science studies linking noncoding RNAs to ovarian function and discuss their translational potential for ovarian aging.

Amanda N. Kallen, MD, is Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Yale School of Medicine and a member of the Reproductive Scientist Development Program (RSDP). She obtained her medical degree at the University of Connecticut and completed her Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Yale-New Haven Hospital, followed by a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the Yale School of Medicine. During her fellowship, she was accepted into the RSDP scholar program, an NIH-funded physician-scientist training program committed to training young obstetrician-gynecologists in biomedical science. Upon completion of her fellowship, she was recruited to join the Yale Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.

In 2019, Dr. Kallen was awarded an ASRM Research Institute grant for her study titled Novel, Noncoding-RNA-Mediated Mechanisms for Regulation of Follicular Quantity and Quality and was selected as the 2021 recipient of the Ira and Ester Rosenwaks New Investigator Award. Dr. Kallen has published in leading scientific journals, and her current research program is focused on the investigation of the regulation of gene expression in granulosa cells. Her clinical interests include pediatric and adolescent gynecology and endocrinology, infertility, and premature ovarian insufficiency. She is the recipient of multiple awards for teaching, clinical excellence, and research.

Social Media Summit

Calling all social media enthusiasts! Limited seating is available for the second annual Social Media Summit, hosted by ASRM and the Tinina Q. Cade Foundation.

Building off last year’s momentum, the Social Media Summit is an opportunity for professionals in the reproductive health field and social media influencers – both medical and non-medical – to gather and share trends and best practices in social media.

This will be an interactive half day summit focused on equipping physicians with skills to communicate successfully with patients using different social media applications. The primary goal of the program is to connect the reproductive health community to raise awareness, educate, collaborate and advocate. This program will connect fertility influencers who share information using Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, Clubhouse, and YouTube with physicians to encourage content collaborations to improve the quality of content shared about reproductive health.

Your ticket will include: Entry into the event, snacks, leave-behind materials, and a giveaway. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at registration.
